Does Send all outbound email to a smart host uses the smarthost also for local delivery?

I am in the process of using MailGun.com as our SMTP SmartHost due to several reasons.

If have configured MDaemon in Setup | Server Settings | Delivery | Message Routing:
  • Send all outbound email to a smart host
What I am wondering is: how are sended messages to local recipients, I mean recipients that are in the  MDaemon's Account Manager for the domain local to MDaemon?

Are messages to local users routed through the above mentioned SmartHost?

In other words: I need that all messages to local MDaemon mailboxes are sended directly from MDaemon built-in SMTP server, while messages sended to recipients external to our domain are routed through the MailGun smarthost.

Do I need to enclose the ip or domain name of the smarthost in square brackets as in:
  • [1.2.3.4]
  • [smtp.mailgun.com]
What is the purpose of square brackets in the smarthost field? I remember reading about it but I was unable to find infos about this in the docs.

MDaemon utilizes a set of queues to transfer mail. Mail that's addressed to non-local addresses is routed to the remote queue and in your case, delivered to your smart host. Mail that is from a local user to another local user is not processed through the remote queue, rather the local queue and delivered to the user by MDaemon.
