Iíve discovered that cycle forwarding is possible in MDaemon.

If one local account enable forwarding to other local account and vice versa infinite forwarding cycle starts. Users mailboxes and local queue overflowed, server performance significantly decreases.

Without limits cycle forwarding can be used for DoS-attack on mail server. Only 2 local users forwarding each other can bring server completely down.

Is the way to limit number of message forwards between local accounts?

MDaemon version 21.0.1
Even 10 times for each message more than enough to bring server down. For example message size near acceptable limit (50, 100 MB) * 10 times * number of unical messages.

Is the way to tune available number of forwards?

Can you confirm that this doesn't actually start an infinite forwarding loop on your server?

If the default limit that is in place is being enforced on your server you can configure the limit by editing the MDaemon.ini file found in the MDaemon\app directory.  In the [Special] section add the following key:

[Special]
MaxRedirects=10

Change 10 to the number of redirects you would like to allow on your server.  Save the change and restart MDaemon.

I confirm that the MaxRedirects option does indeed limit the number of redirects. After decreasing this value to 1 two-way forwarding is not possible, preventing a potential problem.

Many thanks.
