Hi, I need a script to retrieve an user Mobile phone from the
addressbook.

Basically I call the script with a parameter: the e-mail of that user
(of course there must be an entry in the addressbook with that e-mail.
The script will lookup that email in the addressbook and then return
the associated Mobile phone.

Is that possible?
It is possible to retrieve the whole user record, instead of the
Mobile field?
Can someone please help me?

Thank you in advance

Yes this is possible using the ItemOperation functionality of the XML-API.

All of the documentation for the XML-API can be found in the \MDaemon\Docs\API\XML API\ directory. To open the help you can either open a browser and go to http://127.0.0.1:1000/MDmgmtws, where 1000 is the port MDRA is running on, or go to the docs directory and open Help_Home_RES.xml.  There is also a Samples directory that includes a number of sample XML requests and responses.

You'll want to look for ItemOperation.

The request below will give you the list of item ids from the users private contacts folder.  You can change it to the public contacts folder by editing the path to something like the following PUBLIC/$DOMAIN$/Contacts, where $DOMAIN$ is the domain of the public contacts folder you are wanting to retrieve info from.

<MDaemon>
    <API>
        <Request version="21.5.1" echo="1" verbose="0">
            <Operation>FolderOperation</Operation>
            <Parameters>
                <Folder action="get" path="PRIVATE/Contacts" itemaction="list" itemorder="id"/>
            </Parameters>
        </Request>
    </API>
</MDaemon>
And in the Sample directory, there is a IO_get_Private_Contacts_Res.xml file that demonstrates how to retrieve the full contact info based on the item id.

As for sending the requests and processing the responses, you can use any language you are comfortable with.  All you need to be able to do is submit an XML document in an authenticated HTTP post and accept the response.

I hope that helps.
