You state that you are using Outlook Mobile for Android. Does the same issue occur if you use the native Android email client?

Or does it only occur when using Outlook Mobile for Android?

Please enable ActiveSync "debug" logging, perform your search again, and submit an email support request

containing your your ActiveSync log file and the info needed to locate the search in your ActiveSync log file.

To enable ActiveSync debug logging in MDaemon v15.5.0 and above perform the following steps:
1.) In the MDaemon console, click "Setup" | "Mobile Device Managment...". Dialog box "Mobile Device Managment" appears.
2.) In the heirarchical tree on the left, click on the branch "Client Settings".
3.) In the settings on the right, either double-click on the entry "Global" or single-click on the entry "Global" to select it then click the button "Edit..." at the bottom of the dialog box. Dialog box "Client Settings: Global" appears.
4.) In the section "Troubleshooting" at the top of that dialog box, change the setting "Log Level" to "Debug".
5.) Click the button "OK" at the bottom of dialog box "Client Settings: Global" to close it.
6.) Click the button "OK" at the bottom of dialog box "Mobile Device Managment - Client Settings" to close it.

With your email support request please include the following:

  • A brief but clear description of your issue.
  • The Email address of End-user
  • The ActiveSync device of the end-user
  • The folder in which you performed the search (the root/inbox folder? Folder "Deleted items"? Folder "Sent items"
  • The exact date/time you performed the search.
  • The text string searched for

Please also a copy of your AirSync log file (default location: "/MDaemon/Logs/AirSync-yyyy-mm-dd.log/") covering the time period during which you performed the search.

You state that you are using Outlook Mobile for Android. Please also provide the following:

  • The version of Outlook Mobile
  • The version of Android on which Outlook Mobile is being run
  • The brand and model of the Android device being used.

    I also have this problem.

For android, deleting the accounts and uninstalling Outlook, then restarting and reinstalling seems to work.

But for iOS this does not work.

I keep seeing a log message for affected users saying:

20/02/17 00:18:57.376 Info 00083607 0x41338400 400/Bad Request: Device must be re-configured to honor protocol restrictions

I think this may have something to do with the activesync protocol version. In the log, clients running Outlook that work are reported as version 14.0 and those that dont work are reported as version 14.1.

    Maybe this is a clue.

The iOS users are able to use the native Mail client which is logged as using protocol version 14.1.

Further... on IOS devices with a new install of Outlook (not previously used on that device), it seems to work correctly and with protocol version 14.0.
