A recent Osterman Research
report reveals that 31% of IT decision makers in the small- to medium-sized
business space are concerned or extremely concerned about the potential for
leakage of sensitive information through approved channels like email.
Another Osterman study revealed that 43% of US companies had investigated a
suspected email leak of confidential or proprietary information in the past
12 months. Are you using an email gateway (email spam firewall) to protect
your company?
An email gateway (spam
firewall) is one of the best ways to keep malicious and unsolicited email
from reaching your end user’s inboxes. But what about your outbound
emails?
SecurityGateway for Exchange and SMTP Servers is designed to protect
both inbound and outbound mail. Its
layered security design protects businesses against incoming and outgoing
email abuse by denying spammers, thieves, and hackers a single
point-of-failure to exploit, while ensuring the accurate delivery of
legitimate email and minimizing the potential of false positives.
Combining over a decade of email security expertise with proven security
technologies, SecurityGateway protects message traffic from malicious
attacks, message tampering, and email address identity theft for
organizations using Microsoft Exchange® and other SMTP email servers. It
offers flexible protection with simple, easy to-use settings for
trouble-free administration. Learn more about
SecurityGateway, or get started today with a

Email Archiving Utility for
MDaemon
Marco Archiver, LLC, a spinoff company of decision:DIGITAL Inc, a 13+year
experienced Alt-N Technologies' partner, is proud to announce the release of
MARCO, the first automatic email archiving system designed to work
exclusively with the MDaemon Email Server.
|
|
 |
 |
MARCO, an acronym for Mail
ARChiving and Offloading, is a lightweight server-level email archiving
system that is controlled via a simple admin console and user-facing Web
interface. MARCO tackles the exponential growth of email storage by safely
removing and relocating archived email messages from an active production
server – addressing both historical and real-time email based on an
email's embedded received date.
MARCO offers:
• Tight integration with
the MDaemon message store, user, and permission database
• Archives inbound,
outbound, and historical email
• Automatically offloads
archived email to another storage location (server, hard drive, NAS etc)
• Automatically archives
email based on received date instead of modified date
• Access archived email
via Web interface with full search capabilities
• View and forward
archived emails without restoring back to original mailbox
MARCO was created by an
MDaemon customer FOR MDaemon customers and is available only through
authorized resellers. To learn more, visit www.doyouarchive.com.

New Product Installation Data
Collection
In order to comply with
governmental export control documentation Alt-N Technologies must now
collect data (such as name, country, email, etc.) when you install your
Alt-N Technologies’ product. This new requirement is a one-time
process for you. When you later install future product upgrades, the
information you originally entered will be pulled automatically, unless you
upgrade on a new machine. |

MDaemon 11's New User Name
Login Requirement
MDaemon's POP and IMAP
servers now require use of the full email address as login by default. If
users' mail clients are configured to only use the mailbox value as login
they will not be able to log into MDaemon with their POP/IMAP client until
they change their mail client configuration to use full email address as
login. If you would like to continue to allow mailbox-only logins, then you
can go to Setup | Preferences. Select "System" in the left-hand
navigation menu, then un-check the box "Servers require full email
address for authentication" (strongly NOT recommended as mailbox-only
logins are ambiguous when MDaemon is serving multiple domains).
In addition, the
Internet-enabled BlackBerry data plan integration will not work if you are
using only the mailbox portion of your address. You will need to use the
full email address.

MDaemon and BlackBerry SSL Certificates
The Internet-enabled
BlackBerry data plan's SMTP client does not currently support SSL/STARTTLS
with self-signed certificates. So, if you use STARTTLS or check the box
"Use SSL port" next to "SMTP server" (under Setup |
BlackBerry) and are using self-signed certificates, then all SMTP sessions
from the Internet-enabled BlackBerry data plan will either error out or get
"stuck" until the inactivity timeout is reached. This is solved
by purchase and use of a commercial SSL certificate.
The Internet-enabled
BlackBerry data plan's IMAP client does support SSL with self-signed
certificates. So, if you check the box "Use SSL port" next to the
"Select domain" drop-down menu (under Setup | BlackBerry), you can
get IMAP SSL using the dedicated IMAP SSL port with any certificate you
have. The Internet-enabled BlackBerry data plan's IMAP client does not
currently support STARTTLS so it is not possible to get SSL except on the
dedicated IMAP SSL port.

Setting up Your BlackBerry to
Receive Mail via MDaemon
There are two procedures
that must be followed to setup your BlackBerry device to receive email using
the Internet-enabled BlackBerry data plan via MDaemon. First, the
Internet-enabled BlackBerry data plan must be enabled in MDaemon.
Next, an email profile must
be created on your BlackBerry device. If your BlackBerry is already
collecting mail from your MDaemon account, this means that you have already
configured your BlackBerry with an email profile for your MDaemon account.
This email profile must first be deleted and then recreated in order to
trigger push mail setup within the Internet-enabled BlackBerry data
plan).
If your BlackBerry is not
configured to collect mail from your MDaemon account, then use your
BlackBerry device to create an email profile to do so.
Shortly after you create
your email profile on the device, a SUBSCRIBE request will be received by
the Subscribe URL associated with the domain the user belongs to. Once the
Subscribe request has been processed, the user will receive an email on his
BlackBerry informing him that he has been successfully subscribed for push
mail.
For detailed step-by-steps
instructions for both the administrator and end user please see our
BlackBerry email setup page. |
